1. Inserting € Symbol in Windows
1.1. Insert € on Windows Using Alt Code
On Windows based documents, you can use one of the alt key and press the numbers 8364 using number pad. This alt code shortcut will produce € symbol. However, you need keyboard with number pad and standard laptop keyboards will not work with this shortcut.
1.2. Alternate Keyboard Shortcut for Windows
Windows also support an alternate keyboard shortcut for Euro symbol. Press “Alt + Control + E” keys to make a € symbol wherever you want on your documents. On European keyboards, you can use “AltGr + E” keys to type the symbol.
1.3. Using Emoji Keyboard in Windows
Euro is one of the emoji symbols in Unicode standard with the code pint as U+20AC. Windows 10 has a emoji keyboard for inserting all Unicode emoji symbols. This is the easy and best way to insert Euro symbol on your documents.
- Press “Win + ;” or “Win + .” keys to open emoji keyboard.

1.4. Using AutoCorrect in Microsoft Word Documents
By default, the AutoCorrect settings in Microsoft Word and other documents allow you to insert Euro symbol with a shortcut. You can type (e) and press spacebar, the AutoCorrect settings will automatically convert (e) into € symbol. If this does not work, you can add the shortcut in your AutoCorrect settings manually.
- Open Word document and navigate to “File > Options” menu.
- Click on “AutoCorrect Options…” button under “Proofing” tab.
- On the popup, check you have an entry for Euro symbol as (e) under “Replace text as you type”.
- If not, you can also manually create a new entry for replacing a text with a symbol.

- Scroll down to the bottom on the symbols and find the Euro symbol.
- Double click to select the symbol or click on the symbol to highlight and then click “Select” button.

2. Inserting € Symbol in MacBook

On Mac keyboard, you will see the alt keys with the name “option”. You can use this option key to insert symbols on Mac.
- First change the keyboard input to Unicode Hex Input method.
- Hold one of the option keys and type 20AC.
- Release the keys to make Euro sign.
2.2. Using Keyboard Shortcut on Mac
If you don’t want to switch the input methods, simply press “Option + Shift + 2” keys to produce Euro symbol. If this creates ™ symbol then try “Option + 2” to type Euro symbol.
2.3. Using Character Viewer on Mac
Similar to Character Map on Windows, Mac has Character Viewer app to insert symbols.
- Press “Command + Control + Spacebar” to open Character Viewer app when you are in Pages or other documents. Alternatively, you can also go to the “Edit > Emoji & Symbols” menu to open Character Viewer.
- Click on “Currency Symbols” and look for Euro sign.
- Double click on the symbol to insert standard Euro symbol.

3. Type € on Web Documents

- Remember, you should publish or open he HTML file in browser to view the symbol. It will not be shown immediately on the text editor after you type the code.
